Sunday night saw a step in the right direction as far as building awareness and getting people involved in some of the games we have available. A total of nine people turned up to play games through the evening and one group joined us around 6:30 and stayed through till 9:30. They were a boisterous group that immediately requested a game of Bausack, presumably because they had seen the flyers around the bar area over the last few weeks.
Bausack is game produced in Germany with only limited availability in the UK and far from the cheapest in our collection, it is described elsewhere on my blog. However in many respects as a dexterity game it is ideal for a pub environment where some players may be suffering the cumulative effects of
a few pints. It naturally leads to a loud game as players succeed or fail in trying to place the next component on what is rarely a stable structure – see the following three photos as just one example.

During the evening our group took a few breaks for “fresh air”, liquid refreshment and a brief game of Straw. However with eight players (later 9) and the level of noise it was a little slow for our group so they reverted to Bausack. The largest construction had 27 pieces, certainly the largest I have ever seen in the games we have been involved in.
By the comments received they had a great evening. Hopefully they will return and be tempted to play some of the other brilliant but maybe less noisy and dexterous games, maybe even telling their friends about the evenings.
Once again we had had indications that others would join us but for varying reasons they were not able to be with us at the last moment.
Fingers crossed that we can build on this and maybe see a few more people on the 10th April 2011.
